Meals on Wheels People has been changing lives, one meal at a time, since 1970. We provide a nutritional and social lifeline for older adults through dozens of meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals on Wheels delivery to homebound elderly. With the help of more than 5,000 volunteers, the nonprofit organization now serves 5,700 meals daily and 1.3 million meals each year.

Meals on Wheels People was founded in 1970 by three women who served 14 Meals on Wheels served on paper plates and wrapped in foil. Today we prepare 5,700 meals each weekday, served on-site at one of our 30 neighborhood meal centers throughout the Portland metro area and delivered to homebound elderly by our caring volunteers, who are the heart and soul of the organization. More than 400 people volunteer each day to help fulfill our mission to enrich the lives of seniors, and assist them in maintaining independence, by providing nutritious food, human connections and social support. The Meals on Wheels Program provides homebound elderly with daily visits from volunteers, often the only contact these elders have with the outside world. Meals are served to anyone age 60 and older in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties.
