We are PCC Farmland Trust, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) land trust whose mission is to secure, preserve, and steward threatened farmland in Washington, ensuring that generations of local farmers productively farm using sustainable and organic growing methods. We take our mission one step further by innovating on traditional conservation tools to provide access to affordable farmland.

Land conservation is an essential component in promoting a sustainable environment. Open space allows for sequestration of carbon, promotes the health and vitality of native plants and wildlife, and offers critical areas in which fluctuating volumes of water from streams and rivers can be managed responsibly. Conserved farmland offers the same benefits, while also generating nourishing food for consumption by local communities. Washington’s river valleys boast some of the most fertile soils in the world, which produce over 300 diverse crops—making the land particularly attractive to farmers. Washington’s history includes a rich agricultural tradition, one that PCC Farmland Trust seeks to preserve for future generations. To date, we have conserved 17 farm properties, totaling 1,662 acres. Our preservation work spans the state of Washington, and we have set an ambitious goal to accelerate our rate of success over the next decade.
