Our mission is to empower homeless families with children to get back into housing, and stay there longterm. We envision a community where no family experiences homelessness and where every family receives the support and compassion necessary to thrive.
PHFS helps over 150 homeless families with children find temporary shelter and move back into permanent housing. About 90% of the families keep their housing long-term. It takes an average of about 60 days to help families find permanent housing. We do this through our three programs:Housing First ProgramPHFS helps families experiencing homelessness move back into housing as quickly as possible. We provide rent assistance and case management for 6-12 months to help families keep their housing long-term. ShelterPHFS operates 24 hours of shelter every day of the year for families experiencing homelessness. We have all the comforts of home – private sleeping space, food, showers, laundry, toys, clothing. We rely on a team of over 600 volunteers to help provide supportive, compassionate services. Life Lab Skills TrainingPHFS teaches evidence-based classes to help families learn new tools and skills they can use to help them get and retain housing. Our classes include Incredible Years Parenting, Rent Well Tenant Education, and the ARISE Life Skills Curriculum.
