Keteka is a marketplace where travelers can book unique, authentic tours and activities with validated local guides. While serving in the Peace Corps in rural Panama, the founders were working on community tourism projects and realized that they wanted to create a better way to connect purposeful travelers with authentic, local experiences. "Keteka" is an indigenous Panamanian word that means "to get close to" and that's our goal, to bring you closer to your destination's culture, food, people, and natural environment.
In This Day Trip From Santiago, You Can Trek A Glacier In The Andes Mountains And Relax Afterward In Hot Springs.
Just a couple hours outside of Santiago, you can discover the natural wonder of the incredible Andes mountains in this hike to a high altitude glacier. Your first stop is in the town of San Jose, where you will have a typical Chilean breakfast to fuel you for the upcoming trek. About an hour later, after a scenic drive through the valleys leading up the Andes, you will arrive at the trailhead and begin your hike up to the El Morado Glacier. The views in the valley become increasingly stunning as you get further up from the trailhead, and closer to the snow-capped peaks of the cordillera. The path is clear, but the terrain is rocky, and the hike is consistently uphill, so will be challenging for those with little hiking experience and straight forward for those with a lot of hiking experience or high levels of fitness. At the top (about 10,000 feet / 3,000 meters), you are rewarded with a 360 panorama of peaks and a high altitude glacier. Afterward, relax at Baños Colina hot springs.
