While serving in the Peace Corps in rural Panama, the founders were working on community tourism projects and realized that they wanted to create a better way to connect purposeful travelers with authentic, local experiences. "Keteka" is an indigenous Panamanian word that means "to get close to" and that's our goal, to bring you closer to your destination's culture, food, people, and natural environment.

If you’re a chocolate lover – this tour is for you. Your guide will invite you to actively participate in the chocolate making process from cacao bean to bar. You’ll learn the history of this delicious treat and how it was discovered here, already being enjoyed by the Aztec and Maya and later brought to Europe and then the world. You’ll have a chance to try chocolate in a variety of forms – from how it was sipped as a beverage by the Maya kings, how the Spanish modified the Maya version, and later to the dark and milk chocolate drink and bar varieties we know today. At the end you’ll have a chance to make your own chocolates to take home with you!
