The Belize Zoo is one of the best places to be educated on the incredible diversity of wildlife found in Belize. Founded in 1983, the Belize Zoo is also a rescue center for abandoned and injured animals. It is the first facility of its kind to be fully accessible to animals with reduced or impaired mobility. Today, you can find different types of animals including birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals such as keel-billed toucans, scarlet macaws, jaguars, margays, ocelots and black howler monkeys. Today, visitors not only get to see these animals, but also learn about the importance of protecting and preserving the wide diversity of fauna present in the country.
