Dominican Republic: Mountain Experience

Keteka is a marketplace where travelers can book unique, authentic tours and activities with validated local guides. While serving in the Peace Corps in rural Panama, the founders were working on community tourism projects and realized that they wanted to create a better way to connect purposeful travelers with authentic, local experiences. "Keteka" is an indigenous Panamanian word that means "to get close to" and that's our goal, to bring you closer to your destination's culture, food, people, and natural environment.
Climb Or Drive To The Summit Of Montaña Redonda, An Isolated 1,000 Foot Mountain.
If you’re looking for spectacular views, unbelievable pictures, and a true Dominican culinary experience, Montaña Redonda cannot be missed. An isolated 1,000 foot mountain nestled on the shoreline in the northeastern Dominican Republic, Montaña Redonda provides spectacular panoramic views for miles and miles around.
Montaña Redonda is located about 10 miles east of the town of Miches, along the highway from Punta Cana. It is roughly 1 hour from the resorts of Bávaro, and 3.5 hours from Santo Domingo.
To summit the mountain visitors have three options. First, those in relatively good physical shape can climb the mountain on foot in about 40 minutes. Those with four-wheel-drive can summit in their private vehicles (an adventure in and of itself). Finally, Ramon has a safari truck available for rent with a prior reservation ($2 extra per person).
