Visit Xochimilco And Explore The Spooky Island Of The Dolls As Well As The Famous Museum Of Frida Kahlo.
Your first stop on this trip is the famous lake of Xochimilco! The area of Xochimilco is famous for it’s ‘Island of Dolls’ which have attracted thousands of travellers to it’s river line. Legend has it that the caretaker of the island was unable to save a girl from drowning once, and hung up her toy doll in a tree to protect her spirit after she had died. Some time later, her ghost returned to haunt him, and he continued hanging dolls up in the trees out of respect. Finally, it is said he realized that the dolls themselves seemed to be inhabited by the spirits of the dead. He hung these dolls up on the island for over 50 years, and one day, the caretaker himself drowned and supposedly joined the other spirits of the island.
Your guide will take you towards the small canal of Cuemanco and board kayaks to see the famous Island of Dolls and then see the surrounding flora and fauna. Afterwards, you will stop in Cayoacan and have lunch with your local guide, you will be treated to a traditional Mexican lunch. After lunch you will return to your kayak and head towards the famous Dolores Olmedo museum, to end the trip you will return to Coyoacan and visit the famous museum of Frida Kahlo.
After the tour your guide will take you back to the hotel!
