Part of the Portland metro area, Newberg is known by many as the gateway to Willamette Valley wine country. That said, the region is marked by vast expanses of some of Oregon’s best known vineyards. In many ways this charming area offers the best of both rural and urban. With a historic downtown featuring eclectic shops and galleries and plenty of grape growers spread out across the countryside, Newberg truly is a place that has a little something for all of its visitors.
Newberg likes to boast of its small town feel, but one which also has a bit of an urban edge. With outdoor concert series, free trolley rides through the historic district, and a highly recommended First Friday Art Walk, tourists tend to fall in love with the place.

  • WINE TOURS AND TASTINGS

As this is the entrance to Oregon wine country, you of course have to partake of the extensive array of wine choices and venues. There is even an equestrian wine tour in which guests travel on horseback visiting some of the area’s award-winning establishments. (Imagine, in its early days Newberg was a “dry” town.)

  • WEATHER

As far as the climate, weather in Newberg pretty much runs right down the center—winters are mild, summers are moderate and the amount of rainfall is average. It makes for a rather pleasant outdoor experience.

THE WEATHER
  • The seasonal weather looks a lot like Portland. Winter isn't the best time to visit as the weather is too wet and cool for many of the popular outdoor activities.

  • In an area that is known for grapes and flowers, spring is a celebration of new life. The scenery is beautiful.

  • Summer is the dry season. Daily highs only reach the low-80s and the season is packed with events.

  • Fall is the wine harvest season. October is still pleasant, but November starts to get pretty cool.
