Situated in the Rio Grande Valley, Brownsville is an up-and-coming city. Known for its beaches and water sports, the outdoor enthusiast would certainly do well to check out this Texas town. Not to mention, with numerous colleges in the city, there is a youthful energy which infiltrates just about all aspects of life in Brownsville.

The downtown is largely about the history of the region. Located across the border from Mexico, Brownsville celebrates all aspects of its cultural roots. Historic churches, museums, as well as centuries old homes mark the landscape of this area.
  • BEACHES

    With a subtropical climate nearly year-round, Brownsville attracts plenty of visitors looking to enjoy fun in the sun. A couple of the more popular beaches include: Boca Chica Beach and Isla Blanca Park. If you’re not necessarily into the water, bird watching is also huge. Generally, you can spot pelicans and egrets.

  • GOLF

    As many opt to winter in this south Texas locale, golf has become a major part of the outdoor scene in Brownsville. With several pro-worthy courses, avid golfers have their choice of challenging venues.

  • HIKING & BIKING

    Brownsville offers multiple parks and trail systems that will keep you busy for hours. It is known as the Biking Capital of the Rio Grande Valley—with good reason. The Monte Bella Mountain Bike Trail is one of the more popular, as are the Brownsville Historic Battlefield Trails.

  • Winters are warm and mild. Daily highs are in the low-70s with lots of sunshine. Winters are the dry season.

  • By May, temps are in the upper-80s. It is a great month to visit to avoid the summer crowds but still cash in on some summer-like temperatures.

  • Summers are busy. Highs are in the low- to mid-90s.

  • Fall is still quite warm. September is the rainiest month of the year by far. Brownsville average about six inches of rain for the month and it is hurricane season.
