Tyler deems itself the Rose Capital of the United states. Situated in East Central Texas, Tyler’s Rose Garden is indeed one of the area’s main attractions. And with over 40,000 rose bushes it isn’t hard to see why. What else can you find in Tyler…plenty of parks along with numerous museums, shops and galleries.

The city is also home to many college students as it has the Univ. Of Texas at Tyler, Texas College as well as the Univ. Of Texas Health Center at Tyler. That said, many describe the city as young, energetic, and eclectic.
  • TEXAS ROSE FESTIVAL

The festival draws in thousands each year. Held in October, the event gives Tyler a chance to show off its amazing array of roses. They host a huge parade and even crown a Rose Queen.

  • LAKE TYLER

Actually 2 lakes: Lake Tyler East and Lake Tyler West adjoined by a canal, the region is a great place to boat, fish and explore wildlife and vegetation. This was also recently the site of one of HGTV’s astounding Dream Homes.

  • PARKS

Tyler’s parks are certainly worth exploring. With 27 parks covering over 1000 acres, the Tyler park system boasts everything from walking trails, to horseback riding opportunities, to extensive biking paths for the avid cyclist.

THE WEATHER
  • Winters are the slow season. Daily highs are only around 60 degrees and the activity slows.

  • Springs are fairly mild. April highs are in the upper-70s.

  • Summers are busy at the lake. Daily highs are in the low-90s with lots of sunshine. Summers are the dry season.

  • Fall is the best time of year to visit, especially for the annual Texas Rose Festival, held in October.
