TOP 10 BREWERIES IN ALASKA
You can’t live this far north without a beer to get you through the winters. Here’s a list of our favorite breweries up in Alaska.

10.
BEARPAW RIVER BREWING COMPANY (ANCHORAGE)

As one of the highest-rated breweries in the state you can’t overlook this Anchorage staple. Bearpaw River features IPA and pale ales, and a sweet milk stout. This brewery is run by four brothers with a passion for brews, and for the state of Alaska.

9.
KLONDIKE BREWING COMPANY (SKAGWAY)

Largely supported by a combination of the northern locals of the Inside Passage as well as savvy cruise-goers who would like a taste of Alaska. Tours are $20 which will cover safety glasses and samples.

8.
HOMER BREWING COMPANY (HOMER)

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself at this quaint and cute island town then you may as well make like the locals and visit the Homer Brewing Company for a pint or four. It’s worth sticking around for the winter when their Royal Imperial Stout makes its return each year.

7.
HOODOO BREWING COMPANY (FAIRBANKS)

If you’ve made it all the way up to Fairbanks then you’ve earned yourself a drink. They offer free tours every Saturday at 4PM which you can sign up for via phone or, better yet, just stroll in early and down a few before the tour. They have regular events such as the annual Halloween party and other fun events like Bend for Your Beer Yoga.

6.
DENALI BREWING COMPANY (TALKEETNA)

Named after the giant mountain off in the distance, the Denali Brewing Company in Talkeetna is a quirky and vibrant barroom offering 20+ beers on tap. You can have a view of the production floor while tasting favorites such as Denali Blonde and Slow Down Brown.

5.
RESOLUTION BREWING COMPANY (ANCHORAGE)

One of our favorite taprooms because they allow outside food so you can have the best of both worlds: delicious beers and your preferred foods. From their Black Cup Stout to their Ixelles (Belgian Tripel) you are bound to find some flavor-forward options here but can go lighter with SMaSH Lager if that suites you better.

4.
SKAGWAY BREWING CO. (SKAGWAY)

If seeing through beers is a pet peeve of yours (and why wouldn’t it be!?) then Skagway Brewing Co. is the place for you, where they are dedicated to creating fresh unfiltered ales. Try their signature Spruce Tip Ale which is clearly inspired by Skagway’s surrounding forests.

3.
ALASKAN BREWING COMPANY (JUNEAU)

Alaskan Amber Ale has been making a name for itself over the last two decades as the go-to amber for many beer enthusiasts. Located right in the capital city gives it convenience but you’ll be surprised at how small this brewery is, considering it is distributed to most of the country.

2.
BLEEDING HEART BREWERY (PALMER)

With a passion for beer that has character, Bleeding Heart Brewery has a bleeding heart for underprivileged beer drinkers in Palmer and its surroundings. Their Blonde Ale called Valley Trash (love that name) measures in at a whopping 7% ABV (that’s pretty strong for a blonde) so it doesn’t take much to numb yourself to the cold here at Bleeding Heart.

1.
MIDNIGHT SUN BREWING CO. (ANCHORAGE)

This brewery brews the perfect beers for those long winter nights, with a focus on barrel-aged stouts and barley wines. For a truly unique tasting experience, try their Belgian Style Special Dark Ale (Monk’s Mistress), and you can’t go wrong with their Coffee Porter (Arctic Rhino). The beer list is pretty extensive and seasonal brews keep your palate interested.
