TOP 10 WATER-BASED ACTIVITIES IN HAWAII
Islands are surrounded by water, so there’s no surprise that these islands have a huge array of activities that get you wet.

10.
ZODIAC RIDE

Larger boats are fun and exciting but there’s something special about the adventurous zodiac rafts which are maneuverable enough to weave in and out of coves, without risk of scratching the exterior seeing as it is inflatable. Observe beautiful cliffs from the water, look for dolphins, and jump in to cool off.

9.
SCUBA

For those PADI certified you’ll be happy to spend the majority of your time here underwater. The ocean surrounding these islands are teeming with life. From great white sharks, to sting rays, to a rainbow of fish difficult to find elsewhere. You can’t dive without certification so if this is top of your list then make sure you prepare adequately.

8.
FRESH WATER

It seems silly to classify a type of adventure as simply “Fresh Water” but with all of the attention we’re giving the ocean on this list we thought it’d be appropriate to focus on the many fresh water sights you’re to see. Try kayaking up a fresh water stream that’s fed by a gorgeous waterfall. There are some amazing views to take in, even when the coastline is out of sight.

7.
SEA KAYAKING

Nothing takes you closer to the water (without getting very wet) than sea kayaks. It’s a pleasurable activity for all experience levels as sea kayaks are easy to navigate and give you access to inlets that are simply inaccessible to other floating vehicles.

6.
SAILING

There’s something freeing about hoisting the sails and relying on the natural wind power to take you to destinations unknown. On a Hawaii sailing trip, you are likely to see dolphins, sea turtles, and even whales at certain times of the year. Who knows, maybe this will be the genesis of a brand-new lifestyle for you two!

5.
SHARK DIVING

Create your own “shark week” with an adventure into the deep where you’ll watch these fascinating yet boneless creatures hunt for food. You could see a range of different species on a diving trip from reef sharks to tiger sharks to the uniquely shaped hammerhead shark. Despite what the movie Jaws did to the reputation of sharks, try to find comfort in the safety of these trips and beauty in the nature of these animals.

4.
BEACH

There are gorgeous beaches that bless the Hawaiian Islands all around. Sometimes there’s nothing that can compare with chilling on the beach with a drink in your hand and your toes in the water. Wade in the water at a secluded beach or head to a popular one such as Waikiki for some people-watching.

3.
SURFING

With some of the best breakers in the world, you’ll regret not taking advantage of the waves while in Hawaii. While we’re focusing primarily on surfing for this number, the skill is difficult to learn and you can still take advantage of the crashing waves with bodysurfing and boogie boarding. Just go play, however you prefer!

2.
MANTA RAYS

There are a handful of places in the world where you can swim with huge manta rays including Fiji, the Maldives, Australia, and, surprise, Hawaii. With one of the closest of such locations Hawaii offers perhaps the best marine activity you will ever have the pleasure of experiencing. Not only will you be diving with bus-size animals (the largest recorded at 30’), but you’ll be doing so at night which is eerily beautiful and maybe a bit fishy.

1.
SNORKELING

The quintessential activity in the tropical waters surrounding Hawaii is snorkeling. You’ll be amazed with the activity and life underneath the water surface. We strongly recommend that you practice before heading there on a honeymoon or special trip so that you are comfortable and confident in the submarine experience.
